Gionee launches F5 in China with 4000mAh battery and 4GB RAM

Gionee has launched an interesting mid-ranged smartphone in China at the beginning of this month. It has metal body, 4GB RAM and 4000mAh battery but is only 7.7mm thick. The phone has been named as the Gionee F5 and it is priced at 1799 Yuan (Rs. 17,568 approx.) in China. The F5 comes in Rose Gold and Gold color variants.

Gionee F5, the latest smartphone in the ‘F series’ boasts of a 5.3-inch IPS 2.5D curved glass display but it just has a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD). The display has a pixel density of 277 PPI and screen-to-body ratio of 69.3%. The phone is being powered by a 1.5GHz MediaTek MT6750 octa-core 64-bit processor clocked at 1.5GHz with Mali-T860 GPU. There is 4GB RAM onboard and it runs on Amigo OS 3.2 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. For storage, we get 32GB of internal memory but it can be extended externally up to 128GB by adding a microSD card.

In the camera section of the Gionee F5, there is a 13 megapixel primary rear camera along with a 8 megapixel secondary selfie shooter. Both the cameras can shoot Full HD videos. The F5 is a Dual SIM phone with 4G VoLTE support but it comes with a hybrid slot, thus, the user can use only one SIM and microSD card simultaneously. The mid-ranger also packs in a fingerprint sensor that is located in the home button on the front. It weighs just 162 grams despite packing a 4000mAh battery under its hood. The battery in non-removable. The F5 supports FM Radio and has a 3.5mm audio jack as well. In terms of connectivity, the unibody metal designed phone includes 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and GPS.

The Gionee F5 is a good phone but the company could have used a better processor and given it a Full HD display to make it even better. If the phone gets launched in India in the near future, it might get featured in our best smartphones under 20000 list.
